Bay Area partymakers DJ Lady Ryan and DJ 7evenB weave a night of music, liberation & connection this Downtown First Thursday at 111 Minna Gallery with KALW
5:30: Happy Hour with DJ 7evenB Bay Area native DJ 7evenB has been a voracious music lover from a very young age. Collecting records as a youth led him to pick up his first set of turntables in 1999 and he hasn’t put them down since. He has opened for the likes of RZA and played on radio stations around the country in as well as performing live sets from coast to coast.
Based in San Francisco, he hosts a twice monthly, genre fluid vinyl DJ night at Pop's Bar called The Hold Up. Running 7+ years strong, he uses this night to platform novice DJs as well as hosting seasoned collectors & nightlife veterans. Some recent guests of this intimate event have included Hip Hop icon Large Professor as well as DMC Champion Turntablist DJ Shortkut. In addition to his Mission night, he holds residencies at several SF venues including Harlan Records, Legacy and Starlite. As a zealot for sounds of many flavors, he brings an eclectic approach to his sets, ranging from Deep Disco to Cumbia reworks to sing along Classics, all blended seamlessly to take listeners on a sonic journey across decades & genres.
8:00: DJ Lady Ryan Live Broadcast Dance Party. Lady Ryan is a Bay Area favorite – inspiring a sense of safety, joy, and belonging as a spiritual conductor and dedicated professional. Her passion for music can be heard throughout the Bay Area and beyond, whether she’s energizing the crowd at Warriors and Valkyries games, hosting one of her celebrated Soulovely or Sweetspot parties, or gracing the airwaves of 91.7 KALW in San Francisco.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Bay Area music scene, Lady Ryan was voted the best DJ in the Bay Area in 2023 by the Bay Area Reporter Magazine. Additionally, she was awarded the 2016 Best of the Bay by the East Bay Express, solidifying her status as a trailblazer in the industry. Also in 2023, Lady Ryan was honored by the City of Oakland for her leadership in the LGBTQ music and arts community. This honor was bestowed within the affirmation of the City of Oakland’s commitment to the liberation of queer and trans people and the intersectional approach to liberation, principles of equality, and inclusion for all.
Lady Ryan has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Diana Ross, George Clinton, Erykah Badu, Journey, Indigo Girls, and Anderson Paak. With a deep range and knowledge of multiple music genres, coupled with the right touch of nostalgia, her ability to conduct high vibrations makes Lady Ryan a sure shot for any dance floor.
